OUR PROGRAM

What is TEAM-WORKS Academy?
TEAM-WORKS Academy is a program that builds Strong Minds, Strong Bodies and Strong Character in underserved youth. We work to ensure our students develop the skills and knowledge they need to enjoy healthy, prosperous lives, within their communities and beyond. We provide a culturally supportive learning environment that equips students with the skills and confidence to achieve success in and out of the classroom.

What are the intended outcomes for TEAM-WORKS Academy students?
The student outcomes for the TEAM-WORKS Academy include; increased school attendance, participation in physical activities, knowledge about high-risk behaviors and positive choices, positive attitude toward school participation, and confidence in their abilities.

What are the proven results for TEAM-WORKS Academy student?
Students show dramatic gains in each of the 3 areas of curriculum testing. Our students gain on average, almost a full grade-level in their math and reading abilities. Our students also show sharp increases in their physical activity levels and their ability to use critical reasoning skills. Our reports prove that our program is empowering students to make healthy choices in every area of life.

OUR CURRICULUM

STRONGMIND

We provide homework assistance, study habit skills development, indentify gaps in reading and math, and adapt our Strong Mind sessions to help students strengthen their skills and gain confidence in their academics. Our students are making significant gains toward reaching the set expectations for their grade level.

STRONGBODY

Students learn how to develop and grow Strong Bodies through our health and fitness curriculum. In our program, students learn the value and fun of staying active in a safe and supportive environment, which is critical to their long-term health and well-being.

STRONGCHARACTER

Our curriculum is based on groundbreaking work by the Strong Alliance, in partnership with Dr. Sharon Stoll, Director of Ethics at the University of Idaho. It is based on more than 30 years of consistent theoretical, and applied research and takes a three-part approach: students critically examine personal and social values, practice strong character, and are provided a culturally relevant learning environment and materials. This model addresses real life issues that children face on a daily basis, such as conflict resolution, overcoming adversity, safe attitudes toward drugs and alcohol, social skills with peers and community, time management and goal setting.
